Leif Garrett Dances out of Jail
Leif Garrett to enter rehab, not jail
Leif Garrett, the thirty-seven-year-old former teen idol who had
a Top 10 hit with "I Was Made for Dancin'," has boogied himself out of
a jail sentence. On Thursday, Garrett pleaded guilty to heroin and
cocaine possession charges stemming from a July 29 sting operation. On
Friday, the Los Angeles Municipal Court ruled that Garrett could go to
rehab instead of jail.
According to a court official, Garrett's conviction will be
wiped from his record if he successfully completes the "diversion
program."
Garrett and his band Godspeed, who performed at Rhino Record's
Retrofest on Saturday, plan to begin playing L.A. clubs and record a
release a full-length album by the end of the year.
